The global scenario of technical textiles consumption is expected to grow from 19.7 million tons to 23.8 million tons, with a CAGR of 3.8 %, during the period from 2005 to 2010.
The Current market size of technical textile in India is estimated to be around Rs. 37,100 crore. The overall technical textile industry in India is expected to grow at the rate of 11% year on year and reach a market size of Rs 62,420 crore by the year 2012-13.
Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is playing very vital role in promoting this industry throughout the country on various issues and subject for the welfare of industry. FICCI has set up an active desk on Technical textiles which researches issues and explores potential for further growth. The techtex desk engaged in arranging conferences, seminars and workshop on various areas of technical textiles thus creating a platform for discussion and growth. We have also taken lead in setting up of Taskforce on Technical textiles at the advice of PM’s office. Based on its recommendation FICCI had organized global conference on Technical textiles industry in April 2008 at Delhi which gave immense benefit to the industry. FICCI plans to intensify its effort to promote all categories of technical textiles and also mount outbound delegations for business development in future.
